Reprobate Mind…

What is a reprobate mind and how can we spot it? The reprobate mind is a  religious spirit and is often seen in one who does not want to follow headship. Those who want to do their own thing and won’t submit to the truth are in danger of becoming reprobate. This mind is one of the things that will manifest itself at the end of the age. In Scripture, we can see how Jesus dealt with this kind of mindset. The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8) so the way he handles the reprobate will also be the same.

Many in the church perceive Jesus as soft, loving, and non-offensive. But when we pick up our Bibles it’s easy to see how confrontational Jesus was, and still is, against religious spirits. In the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 12:33-37) Jesus called the Pharisees a bunch of vipers right to their faces. Wait…where’s the love? I thought it was all about love and we can only say things that edify? Those with a  religious mindset often say things like, “It’s all about the love, brother,” but what do you do with how Jesus confronted false teachers? Not only does Jesus call them a bunch of vipers but he calls them evil! How could the Pharisees have been evil when they had the whole Old Testament memorized?

Jesus was calling them evil for being false teachers. He was letting them know they’d  be held accountable for any lie that has come out of their mouths. That is how we’re going to be judged, too. Jesus is going to look at the church and see if we have been teaching the truth or a lie. But didn’t the apostles say that there will be many false teachers at the end that will rise (Matt. 24:11)? They’re going to be everywhere.

You see the religious spirit does not like to talk about this Jesus, the real Jesus, the one that is confrontational. Jesus was invited over for dinner by the Pharisees (Luke 11:37-54). At this point they were thinking it would be nice to have Jesus over for dinner to learn from Him. They didn’t see it coming that Jesus would rebuke them, calling them hypocrites, and pointing out how they love to be seen by others. The same was true then and it’s true now: Religious people love to be seen. Those are the ones who like to prophesy and give people words; they want to operate in signs and wonders for people to see them. Those are the gifts that they chase after them. What did Jesus call those who are after signs and wonders? He calls them a wicked and adulterous generation (Matthew 12:39). For the carnal, it is about what they can see with their fleshly eyes.

This has been the biggest problem from God’s people for the longest time. There has been one recurrent prophecy throughout both the Old and New Testaments... That His people would get eyes to see and ears to hear. Eyes and ears to see what? Eyes to see and ears to hear the secrets of the Kingdom. Moses, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jesus, and Paul all prophesied this same message (Deuteronomy 29:4, Ezekiel 12:2, Isaiah 6:9-10, Matthew 13:13-14, Acts 28:26-27) and that message is the same for today as it was back then, because that is the problem in the church still today.

The Apostle Paul said that because the church has no love for the truth God himself will turn them over to a strong delusion. These are the sons of perdition, the ones who refuse the truth. I was taught that the sons of perdition are in the world but when you look at the Greek word for falling away (apostasia) it means “a defection from the truth, a bill of divorce” so by definition this cannot be the world because the world was never married to Jesus, but the church is supposed to be. The world never had the truth, so it has to be the church that fell away. The religious usually believe, “Once saved always saved” but this point alone refutes that false teaching.

These spiritual teachings that are revealing the mysteries of the kingdom are always attacked by those with reprobate minds. Paul said that the carnal man cannot receive spiritual things because they’re foolish to them (2 Corinthians 2:14). Paul calls the church of Corinth carnal, which prevented Paul from giving them any deeper teachings, because they could not receive them (1 Corinthians 3:1-3). Paul called them babies because he could not give them the mysteries of the kingdom.

We’re at a point where the church needs an awakening. That is something we keep hearing from all these prophetic circles, even the news outlets are saying it’s time for an awakening. This sounds a lot like the sleeping virgins being woken up. The awakening is about being awakened to spiritual truth. There is a battle for souls right now and we need to step into that battle. You're either in the fight right now or you’re not. It's time to get into the fight right now. We have to get off the bench. You have to be prepared for the kingdom right now because it could manifest at any second. Some of you are living in a lie, and if you don't repent shortly you’ll be out of time to repent at all. You will be turned over into perdition soon if you do not repent. The days of church are coming to an end. There is a remnant of people coming forward now who will not suppress the truth.

We need to be ready to say, “God whatever you need me to do, Lord whatever aughts I have, I want to repent today. I want to be done with it today.” We should walk away with a very humble heart. Tomorrow is not promised.

Sincerely,

Apostle Michael Petro
