Unveiling the Soul
Today's word is about the resurrection of the soul - the Lord is looking for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. The Lord Himself taught that in the end times the church would hire teachers to tell them what they want to hear (2 Tim. 4:3). I will tell you what you don’t want to hear because I care enough about your soul to tell you the truth so that you can prepare yourself for what’s coming.
The Lord is looking at each of our souls to see if we’re ready. The soul is the place of desire, will, and conscience. The Lord is looking for those who are willing to die to themselves, and that comes from the soul. Death to self is dying to our passions and desires, dying to our will and only desiring to do the will of the Father. Two thousand years ago Jesus was not looking for everyone - He was only looking for those who were obedient. The same is true today!
Let’s talk some about what a testament is and how it applies to us as the body of Christ. A testament is basically a will which is only to be revealed at the testator’s death. After the testator’s death, those who are the inheritors are able to receive their inheritance. When Jesus came, he revealed the Old Testament, or will. The New Testament will is to be revealed when the church dies to itself. That is why the Word says that those who suffer with Him will be glorified with Him and partakers of His glory (Rom. 8:17).
The Apostle Peter taught that as we go through the suffering of Christ, we will cease from sinning by dying to ourselves and the lust of the flesh. Too many Christians are waiting to fly away because they don’t want to go through the tribulation - they’re not willing to die to themselves or die for the truth. The sign of being a true teacher is continuing to die to self. If your walk isn’t right then you’re grieving the Holy Spirit and you should not be in a position of teaching others.
If we teach the Word of God in the letter only then the inner man cannot be renewed. Paul said that when the Law is read a veil lies over their hearts, but if you turn to Christ the veil is removed (2 Cor. 3:15). To “turn” in the Greek speaks of repenting, being converted. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life, so those who are teaching from the letter are actually suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. The veil hinders the hidden knowledge of God. The early church said that the veil that covers the scriptures is the letter and that it has to be removed in order for the true meaning to be seen.
Those who are unveiled from the law are being transformed into the Lord's image. When all this is done, those of us who go through the process are going to look like Jesus. To go beyond the veil is to go into the Holy of Holies, where the veil is fully removed. As the law is unveiled to us, the glory of God is being continuously imparted every time we get revelation. We are ascending from glory to glory with every revelation (2 Cor. 3:16-18). But there is no transformation of the soul until the veil is removed.
So many churches are full of people who have not changed in years. There is no transformation of the inner man because their veils aren’t being removed. If we are not revealing the Word of God, we are handling the Word deceitfully, and we are robbing people from being transformed into the image of God. Paul said that if our Gospel is veiled, it’s veiled to them that are perishing. A daily process of revelation is needed to help our inner man (soul) come to life. The apostles groaned and were in travail for the inner man to be clothed with Christ. It was not something they just prayed for - it was a deep cry from within their souls to be clothed in that glory. With the knowledge of the glory a fear of God comes in to show us how close we really are to the end. Scripture and the Early Church confirm that there are certain revelations that were reserved for the end times.
The Early Church and the Jews knew that Adam and Eve were not really naked in the sense that we understand it. They wore garments of light and were clothed in light. Those garments of light were symbolic of the high priestly garments. Every time we get a revelation, we are putting on that garment of light, as the glory is being formed in us. Satan will do everything he can to deceive us and keep us from putting on those garments of light. He’s the master of creating distractions. That is why when I’m in the Word, I turn my phone on silent, because I know distractions will come to get my attention away from putting on that garment. Satan is threatened by these revelations. If the revelation is helping me receive that garment, then why would I want any other teaching? Satan is the fowl of the air that comes to snatch away that seed. He does it through getting us to compromise. When we compromise, it allows Satan to sow tares and snatch away the seed that was planted. We need to be focused now more than ever saints. Amen.
Sincerely, Apostle Michael Petro
